Abstract: The case concerns a woman suffering from chronic paranoid schizophrenia, who complied poorly with antipsychotic medication and had severely impaired psychological and social functioning. Oestrogen therapy in the form of an oral contraceptive pill (brevinor- norethisterone/ ethinyloestradiol) was used with effect.
